We have taken an important new step in our fight against internet abuse.
Starting July 1st 2026 we are introducing the option to use trusted flaggers in our efforts to combat abuse.
A trusted flagger (or pålidelig indberetter in Danish) is typically an authority that, by virtue of its function, is granted special responsibility within a company’s case handling processes. In recent years, the use of trusted flaggers has emerged in several regulations, notably from the EU.
Punktum dk has made a proactive decision to combat online crime and is now implementing the use of trusted flaggers to ensure high security and continued trust in .dk domain names. It is paramount for us that the .dk-zone remain among the most secure domains in the world.
Protecting the Registrant
We ensure that any intervention against a registrant is proportional and carried out by the correct party. By this, we mean that one should not shut down an entire domain name if it is sufficient to close the website or specific parts of it.
However, there are situations where authorities make decisions that ultimately lead to the closure of a domain name. In these cases, the use of trusted flaggers allows us to take steps that enable faster reaction times to remove specific abuse on a Danish domain name.
Responsibility throughself-regulation
Punktum dk is self-regulated. This means we define our own terms and conditions for how we conduct our business. This comes with a responsibility—one that we are fulfilling by taking this specific step.
In the process, we have looked broadly at who might qualify as a trusted flagger. We have determined that the following criteria must be met:
Must be a public authority.
Must make administrative decisions in relation to the specific case.
Must assume full legal responsibility for the assessment (the decision).
Must enter into a written agreement with Punktum dk to act as a trusted flagger.
Consequently, other organizations or companies that do not meet these criteria will not be eligible to become trusted flaggers.
Timeline and Implementation
We will introduce the use of trusted flaggers as early as July 1st, 2026.
In the coming months, we will invite relevant authorities to a "mini hearing" where we can discuss how to implement this scheme for maximum effectiveness.
The Practical Solution Inquiries from a trusted flagger will be directed to Punktum dk and handled in the same manner as when Punktum dk processes a complaint under the provisions of Section 9 of our Terms and Conditions. Therefore, the information provided to the registrant and the registrar will remain the same when a domain name is suspended following a request from a trusted flagger.
A safer.dk-zone
Any abuse of a .dk domain name is one too many. Therefore, we must do everything we can to maintain high security so that users can feel safe navigating .dk domain names.
This initiative is another step in that direction. Punktum dk was the first to introduce data and ID verification for domain name holders. With this initiative, we are the first in Europe to introduce a general trusted flagger model for domain names.
