On 1 July 2026, Punktum dk will implement the first phase of the transition to a registrar-only administration model for .dk domains.
The release includes three main updates:
1. Registrar-only registrations
From 1 July 2026, all new .dk domain name registrations must be created under registrar management.
This means that:
new registrations under registrant management will be rejected
registration and renewal periods will be limited to one year and renewal can be performed up to 2 months before the expiration date
multi-year registration and renewal requests will be rejected
registrars will no longer be able to withdraw from managing a domain and return it to registrant management.
Existing registrant-managed domains can continue under the current model during the transition period, which ends 30 June 2028.
2. Fast Track Transfer
Fast Track Transfer is a new optional feature that allows auth tokens to be exchanged system-to-system between Punktum dk and the registrar.
Registrars that do not opt in are unaffected. The existing manual auth token transfer flow will continue to work as before.
To use Fast Track Transfer, registrars must enable the feature in the Registrar Portal and provide a Fast Track endpoint URL and, optionally, an API key.
